THE NAKED MAN

It is very interesting to read what the Bible has to say about ourselves as a result of our natural development as a carnal human being.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.  The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any that did understand and seek God.  They are all gone aside they are all together become filthy.  There is none that does good no, not one.  The earth also was corrupt before God and the earth was filled with violence.  There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeks after God.  They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable there is none that does good, no not one.  Destruction and misery are in their ways and the way of peace have they not known.  There is no fear of God before their eyes.  Yea, in heart ye work wickedness.  The wicked are estranged from the womb, they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.  For all have sinned and lacked the glory of God.  For the creature was made subject to vanity not willingly but by reason of him who has subjected the same in hope.  MY thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways saith the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.  Because, the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God neither indeed can be.  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.  The heart is deceitful above all things and desperate to be wicked, who can know it.  When they knew God, they glorified him not as God neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing themselves to be wise, they became foolish.  The way of man is not in himself, it is not in man that walks to direct his steps.  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy.  Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of truth.  There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death”.  (all quotes from the KJV)

There is more written in the Bible on the subject of the "natural" nature of man, than any other area of teaching.  The descriptions form as complete a picture as could ever be rendered on a single subject.  In fact, in thinking about it, it could be said that a principle  endeavor of the Word of God, is to bring to us a true understanding of the real us.  If there is anything that gives the Bible credibility, I would think that it's scrutinizingly accurate appraisal of mankind would do it. The Biblical  perspective of mankind is unique in that it stands alone among the respected writings of philosophy with its position.  If we were to believe these statements we should be convinced of our total corruptibility.  It surely seems to be God's point of view.  But, in our quest to provide as comfortable an existence as we can for ourselves, we would most definitely resist this evaluation.  And this we have most energetically done.
